CryEngine 3 To Support Stereoscopic 3D
Crytek's (Crysis) CryEngine 3 game development platform is going to support 3D development
and will be unveiled at the annual Game Developer's Conference in March. "With CryEngine 3,
developers will have the ability to create their content in 3D on all platforms" Crytek's global
business development director for CryEngine, Carl jones says. This new development in 3D
support will enable developers to reduce cost and speed development.
Many popular games have been developed with the
CryEngine including Crysis, Far Cry, and Aion. With
support for DirectX 9 and 10 (PC) as well as both the
Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, this is truly a
"next-gen-ready" development platform.
So this effectively means that 3D development for both major consoles will be possible.
Now it's just the matter of the hardware catching up. It is widely known that Crysis the
game is one of the best benchmarks for graphics on the PC and this new development
will make a lot of PC gamers happy.
