Samsung Sets U.K. Launch Date For Its 3D LED Televisions
Samsung has officially set a release date for its brand new line of 3D televisions and Blu-Ray player. The company plans
to release the new line in March of 2010. The LED 8 Series, the LCD 7 Series televisions along with the BD-C6900 Blu-ray
player will be the first 3D offerings to come out from Samsung. We're excited to check these televisions out for ourselves
as Samsung makes great HD LCD televisions already.
Soon after the first release, Samsung will intro the LED
9 series and the Plasma 7 Series a few months later.
But wait... what about a home theatre package?
Samsung will be releasing one of those around the
same time called the HT-C6930W home theatre
system.
The 3D televisions will come pre-equipped with built-in ethernet connection (many televisions are including ethernet
connections now), wireless capabilities, and Internet@TV which will give the user access to Samsung's app store called
Samsung Apps.
3D Ready
So what about all the 2D content that currently exists? Well, at this point not many games are slated for true 3D release
so many of the new 3D televisions will include a 2D mode. These Samsungs are no exception. They will incorporate a 3D
processor with auto-conversion technology to switch 2D content into 3D in real time which will make all those plain
vanilla 2D HD shows more interesting.
Pretty sweet. We can't wait. Guess this pic will have to do for now though :)
Panasonic TC-PVT25 Plasma 3D Television
If Panasonic has anything to say about the upcoming flood of 3D TVs to market, it's that they will be first to officially
launch them in stores. Scheduled for an as yet to be announced "spring 2010" release, the company will release this 3D
plasma with special glasses. No other company (except Sony) has officially announced that their respective televisions
will come with the necessary 3D glasses we all have been hearing so much about.
Even if this television was not in 3D it would probably
be a big hit. Panasonic does not dissappoint when it
comes to plasma technology. The Panasonic Viera HD
televisions have long been revered for their incredible
black level performance, superior picture quality, and
overall above average performance.
"Panasonic's proprietary 3D plasma display panel technologies, teamed with the new 3D eyewear based on RealD's
Technologies, will reproduce a stunningly immersive Full HD 3D experience for the customer who owns a Panasonic 3D
VIERA TV", said Yoshiiku Miyata, Managing Executive Officer of Panasonic Corporation.
The Tech
The proprietary RealD format is essentially a side-by-side 3D format that utilizes a special set of technologies to combine
a left and right eye 3D image stream into a single channel. The RealD Format delivers high def 3D content to any 3D
enabled display... hmmm... wonder if we could use these glasses with the new 3D HD monitors?
